Tasks.
Reflection.
What did I do? (Remembering): I was out of town again for a professional conference at the AECT Convention to present a roundtable presentation. This time a conference consumed my week versus part of a week and a weekend as my previous conference did, which was very difficult when trying to communicate with my team, especially with a 2-hour time difference. However, I think we made it happen well. I was able to complete the assignments that I was responsible for and an assignment delegated to me by the team while I was out. In being honest, I was not looking forward to trying to scan documents to the group while I was out of town, but when prioritizing tasks and realizing our limited time frame, I did not mind a bit. I am so glad that I can rely on my team for uplifting comments and support when times seems difficult.
What was important about it? (Understanding): This week, as it seems I do every week, I learned another new lesson. I love teamwork for many reasons, but this week was for the support and constructive feedback. During our team meeting I was afraid that I could not complete the assigned tasks due to being out of town at a conference, but my team stepped in to help me figure out how to get it done. They were there right when I needed them to be. If I were doing this project alone, I likely would not have had that support. Team, you keep me going when time are rough, and I thank you a million for it!
Where could I use this again? (Application): I can use this experience again in my future when I participate in teamwork or now as I am currently in teamwork. This week I needed help, but next week another teammate may be in my shoes, and it would be my turn to step in to help.
Do I see any patterns in what I did? (Analysis): Yes, I feel as a team we all have been stepping up to help each other and this has been a regular occurring pattern. This recent experience I am discussing within this blog has affected me more than other instances since I truly needed help this go around.
How well did I do? (Evaluating): I feel overall that I did well, but I don’t own all the credit. The credit, as always, goes to the team and the team effort on all assignments. With the assistance of my team, I was able to be out of town for a conference and meet my project deadlines.
What should I do next? (Creating): The next step is offering my assistance as needed as we design the treatment and the modules. I still need to meet with Michelle to discuss if we have time for videography or not. I feel we need to make a decision and go for it or begin planning what we will be doing instead (e.g., a picture, series of pictures, etc.)
