Tasks.
Reflection.
What did I do? (Remembering): This week was a major week for me as I tackled the development of the instruction in Articulate Storyline 2. Communication with the team was fluid throughout the process so I could get the necessary help from my team as needed. I remember spending more time recording my voiceovers and developing in AS2 more than anything this week. I pulled several very late nights to get everything done on time for the team.
What was important about it? (Understanding): This week was important for completing the module development in order to begin the SME review and one-to-one evaluations on time. Communication was also of utmost importance to keep my team posted on the progress since we only had 2 running AS2 programs within the group due to the $0 budget and limited resources. It was my job to keep the team informed of my progress and what is needed to keep the development and revisions going. My team was extremely supportive in helping me as I needed. I can’t remember a single instance when I could not get in touch with someone if needed. This week was also important to see how I work under pressure. Time is of the essence and very limited with concurrent heavy work load, school load and family responsibilities.
Where could I use this again? (Application): Where couldn’t I use these skills again it the better question. As a mother, faculty member and a student, juggling multiple tasks is a regular occurrence. Among all the role responsibilities, communication and keeping stakeholders in the know is extremely important. In project management, it is rare that tasks are not occurring simultaneously, therefore communication and flexibility continue to be an important skill to be maintained.
Do I see any patterns in what I did? (Analysis): Yes. I continue to see that I need to continue to work on my anxiety under pressure, but I do feel overall I continue to work well under pressure. I do reach out to my team as needed when the going gets tough, but I do feel that I could begin to reach out to them sooner to help control the anxiety that I feel.
How well did I do? (Evaluating): I feel overall that I did OK. I did suffer from reduced sleep time on some evenings which I felt affected my next day’s performance, but I wouldn’t change it for anything to be able to meet team deadlines.
What should I do next? (Creating): The next step is to complete the small group trials, make final revisions to our final product and begin our final team report. We are headed to the homestretch, team!
